Civil Servant, Earth Champion and Activist

Amina Idan Paul is an Engineer and a specialist in energy and sustainable development for the Ministry of Energy in charge of Natural Resources in Djibouti.

She was appointed as an Earth Champion, charged with leading the way in the construction of Africa by IGAD-ICPAC in 2021.

Amina is also an environmental activist, a blogger, and the founder of an environmental movement called ' Ecolo à Djibouti’, which seeks to protect the environment in Djibouti and promote sustainable living.

In this week’s interview, Amina talks to us about her work at the Ministry of Energy on wind power and solar energy projects, the impact climate breakdown is having in Djibouti, effective adaptation measures in rural areas and cities, and where she stands on the issue of quantifying national responsibility for climate breakdown.

* Listeners of this episode will notice that the audio sounds a little different and that's because we had to record Amina's parts separately offline due to connection issues in Djibouti.
